Allflex proudly adheres to the International Standards
Organization (ISO) requirements for electronic
identification. There are two basic standards issued by the
ISO in regards to RFID, they are:
- Radio Frequency ID of Animals, Code Structure (ISO Standard
11784)—Specifies the RFID code for use with animals.
- Radio Frequency ID of Animals, Technical Concept (ISO
Standard 11785)—Deals with how a transponder is activated and
how the information stored in the transponder is transferred to
a transceiver.
Many electronic ID suppliers have chosen not to adhere to this
standard, and should be viewed with caution in the marketplace.
In the long-term, investment in a system based on an
ISO-compliant technology can ensure broader compatibility than
many noncompliant systems.
ISO-compliant technologies, whether in the dairy parlour, beef
production, sheep management or swine management, are beginning
to reach the marketplace in the form of Integrated Management
Systems through numerous equipment manufacturers, management
integrators, software firms and other livestock management
and/or animal health companies.
For all of these Allflex partners, ISO compliance was key in
their willingness to invest in integrating Allflex's technology.
Before investing in an electronic management system, be sure to
ask about ISO standards compliance.
